javascriptOff-by-oneHard

Pagination starting on wrong page

Time: 0:00

What it should do

pageItems(items, page, size) returns one page of results. Pages are numbered from 1, so pageItems([1,2,3,4,5,6], 1, 3) gives [1,2,3].

What goes wrong

pageItems([1,2,3,4,5,6], 1, 3) returns [4,5,6] — page 1 shows page 2's contents, and the first three items are unreachable.

Hints

This is an off-by-one errors bug

The loop that runs one time too many, the slice that drops the last item, the index that starts in the wrong place.
